The Concave football boot is a truly innovative development set to become a major global sports technology and brand.

Concave’s core technology is a football boot with a unique patented ‘cupped’ instep. This instep has been independently tested and proven to increase the distance and accuracy of ball trajectories.

The Sweet Spot

In the same way materials and ‘over-sized’ computer-optimised technologies brought new levels of performance to sports equipment such as tennis racquets, golf clubs and snow-skis; the technology being applied to Concave’s boots will provide significantly improved players’ performance to the world’s most popular team sport.

Like other innovative and disruptive products before it, Concave aims to revolutionise the world’s most popular game and challenge the status-quo of major sports-apparel corporates.

Originally an Australian idea, Concave is now global with its base in North America and a major focus in Europe. Australia remains Concave’s creative and design centre.

Holistic Design

From the start, CobaltNiche partnered with Concave to develop the company’s technology and brand to a commercial reality. Using fresh thinking and methodical design processes, CobaltNiche defined strategic directions including:

  • Early technology development including manufacture of hundreds of prototypes to optimise and validate the ‘concave instep’ geometry and concealed lacing systems
  • Product design and marketing support during the commercialisation period
  • Concave’s branding development including sub-brands, packaging and retail POS systems such as the KickerTube
  • Manufacturing integration into final production boots

The Concave boot was put into production and formally introduced to trial markets in mid-2008. Second generation boots have recently been launched globally.
