CobaltNiche previews a new workspace monitor arm developed to take on the market leaders through a host of world-firsts.

Our client, is a leader in his field, and was behind the original Häfele Ellipta. He has aimed even higher for this next venture and engaged CobaltNiche as his design and engineering development partner.

Project Overview

• Product – Zgo monitor arm for Zgonic.
• Rationale – The Zgo monitor arm offers tangible ergonomic and work flexibility/productivity benefits as users can easily adjust posture and positioning throughout the day. As for all monitor arms, the Zgo allows a clean, uncluttered deskspace.
• Intended markets – To be sold internationally, primarily aimed at office fit-outs.
• Project Scope – Develop a clean, articulated monitor arm with somewhat playful contemporary styling. Our broad scope included all key development stages; from user research and concepts through to engineering design, prototyping and production.
• Key Challenge – Create a new product that exceeds the performance and ease of installation/use of any existing monitor arm.
• Our Process – The project has been developed in an ultra-compressed timeframe (11 months from start to trial production) using the full range of CobaltNiche design and engineering resources: Research commercial furniture trends; test competitor arms; 3 x mechanical & styling concepts; Refined to single direction and then engineering through to production.

Innovative results

The Zgonic Zgo Monitor Arm achieves a number of 'world firsts', but probably the most remarkable aspect is it does this in such a refreshingly stylish and elegantly way:

• Accommodates and adjusts for different screen sizes without any tools
• Quick release of display and laptop/display assemblies
• Rear pivot-finger design alleviates display weight when adjusting tilt of display
• Cables hidden internally on both arms
• Optional coloured side panels allow for individualisation or branding/graphics
• Integrated USB hub
