'Booze Bus' Wins Australian Design Award
11 May 2004

CobaltNiche and their client Brimarco Industries were recently presented with a prestigious Australian Design Award for the Victorian Police 'Booze Bus'.

The awards, which were announced at a gala presentation ceremony at the Sydney Town Hall on April 23, are awarded annually and recognise excellence in design.

CobaltNiche's Jack Magree was on hand to accept the award. James Mearden, Managing Director of Brimarco and Inspector Ian Cairns of the Victoria Police as well as other CobaltNiche staff also attended the event. In his speech Jack acknowledged the contribution of the police during the development. Jack sail "It was important to get the end-users of the vehicle involved and this drove the design and engineering solution". The bus provides significant advances in safety, public access, lighting, accomodation and reduced implementation times. "This is the most advanced vehicle of its type in the world. The officers love it" said Inspector Cairns.

Two other products recently developed by CobaltNiche - the Cocoon patient warming system, and the EziStim therapeutic TENS unit, were also recognised at the awards with Australian Design Marks for good design.
