Innovation Insights – Learn From The Best

17 August 2005

In March 2003, as part of the Victorian Government’s (www.vic.gov.au) Agenda for New Manufacturing – the Innovation Insights (www.innovationinsights.com.au) Program was launched.

Two years later, the best in the manufacturing industry have opened their doors to other Victorian manufacturers, demonstrating new technologies, tools and techniques to help keep them competitive in a tough environment.

After more than 150 visits, over 2800 attendees have witnessed practical application of key tools for improving competitive performance. They have observed production lines in full operation using the concepts of Lean Manufacturing such as Six Sigma, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kanban and JIT systems. Concepts like this can be read about, but real knowledge is gained by first hand experience, speaking to the practitioners and seeing their results first-hand.

New to Innovation Insights in 2005 is “Design Innovation”. High performance firms recognise the importance of good design. International research shows a positive link between good design and a company’s performance, proving that a commitment to design enables high growth firms to increase their market share, boost exports and reduce costs.

CobaltNiche is proud to have been invited by the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (www.iird.vic.gov.au) to be one of the first Design Innovation hosts and join an illustrious list of Victorian manufacturers that have opened their doors and shared innovation insights.
