Farming goes high-tech

17 October 2007

.Rinex, an innovative Perth-based company has applied cutting-edge GPS technology to agricultural applications helping Australian farmers increase their yield and reduce chemical use.

Developed with the assistance of CobaltNiche, Rinex recently released another guidance positioning product, the AS7500 Controller. This product will compliment a range of precision farming’ products including the Saturn series, also designed by CobaltNiche for Australian and global markets.

The AS7500 system assists farmers use less chemicals during spraying by using GPS navigation with a tracking system to monitor where a large field has already been sprayed. For example the farmer navigates his tractor where needed (i.e. around tree stumps) and the Rinex Controller automatically restricts spraying to avoid previously sprayed areas.  The Controller is the visual interface for the system, positioned within easy reach inside the tractor cabin. It features a colour LCD screen and simple touch sensitive controls.
