Installation Variables

In order to be innovative this project needed careful understanding of the mechanics, and real-world variations of installation conditions and practices.

The Presco keypad mounts to a variety of wall surfaces from plaster to rendered bricks and it was vital that both the rear wiring exit point and front external faces passed the same ingress protection standards.

Outcome

Impact strength and sealing against moisture ingress were the two major performance targets to meet in developing the outdoor ‘Presco’ keypad. CobaltNiche suggested a new approach to the sealing problem that provided full protection while reducing the number of sealing points. We also configured the design so that concealed fastening could be employed without the installer disturbing the sealed area of the enclosure.
